News: Waqar demands explanation for Australia series debacle

A humiliating tour Down Under has surely left a bitter taste on Pakistan’s new bowling and fielding coach Waqar Younis. The former captain has claimed that he will only continue his coaching stint with the team if a proper assessment is done on Pakistan’s poor show against Australia.

The visitors not only tasted dust with a 3-0 drubbing in Test series, but they were also whitewashed 5-0 in the One-day International series. Adding to their woes, Pakistan lost a thrilling Twenty20 contest against Aussies by two runs on Friday.

Younis, however, felt that the forgetful display of performance from the players was something more than just the cricketing reasons.

"I will only spell out these reasons before the National Assembly standing committee on sports," Waqar told Geo News from Melbourne.

"I want the committee to call me as I want to tell the people the reasons for the team's poor performances," Waqar said, threatening to spill the beans.

The former Test bowler expressed that it was important that reasons for the losses be discussed at length so that mistakes actually come to surface.

"I just feel the committee has to work with sincerity if they want to bring about positive changes in Pakistan cricket," he said.
