News: Mortaza included in limited-overs squad for NZ tour

Former Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza, who is nursing a knee injury since July last year, has been included in the limited-overs squad for the teams' tour to New Zealand starting with a one-off Twenty20 on February 3.
However, Mortaza has opted out of captaincy which means Shakib Al Hasan will continue to lead the side even against the Kiwis.

Mortaza had taken over the captaincy before the West Indies series in 2008 where he incurred the injury and was operated upon the same on the conclusion of the Windies tour. He missed out on the Tri-series featuring India and Sri Lanka along with the home side early in January and the two-Test series against India which concluded on Wednesday. Shakib captained in his absence.

The 15-member squad announced by the board on Wednesday, following the team's 2-0 Test series loss, features the same team that played against India except for out-of-form senior player Shahriar Nafees who has been replaced by his former-ICL teammate Aftab Ahmed.

Left-arm spinner Abdul Razzaq returns to the Test team in place of Enamul Haq jnr. In the squad selected for the lone Test match in New Zealand, fast bowler Mahbubul Alam, who didn't play the Tests against India, has also been dropped and Nazmul Hossain takes his place. Hossain was out with a right quadriceps muscle injury which had also ruled him out of the tri-series.

The two teams play one T20, three one-day Internationals and a Test match.

Squad: Shakib Al Hasan (capt), Mushfiqur Rahim (vice-capt/wk), Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Junaid Siddique, Mohammad Ashraful, Raqibul Hasan, Mahmudullah, Aftab Ahmed, Naeem Islam, Shahadat Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Abdur Razzak, Nazmul Hossain, Shafiul Islam, Mashrafe Mortaza
