A day before Indian cricket fans rather it should be said Indians were enjoying celebration to complete 20 years in international career of sachin. Obviously it is occasion to feel national pride but cricket finds itself in ground and ground reality has been seen at Ahemdabad in the first test between India and Sri Lanka where Rahul dravid smashed 177 runs when his team was struggling . He proved once again himself with full of confidence. He was disregarded a few months back when one day squad was being picked up but he was modest as usual. Returned with classy and authoritative innings in the first test match against Sri Lanka. He dispersed the precarious clouds over his career with his bat. Indian wall is cracking, someone commented one year back and now the wall has been rebuild with magnificent knock. Becoming gum card for India at crease he reached the milestone on first day of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Ahmedabad. Dravid now joins the elite list which has compatriot Sachin Tendulkar at the top with 12,777 runs in Test cricket. It is not a first instance to be wall for India, there are several times Rahul stood as wall at crease against rival team. In 2008, he made 93 in the first innings of the Perth test, the highest score of the match, to help India win and make the series 1-2. After a barren run in Test matches in 2008, Dravid came under increasing media pressure to retire or be dropped. In the Second Test against England in Mohali, he scored 136, putting on a triple-century stand with Gautam Gambhir. India can pride over several players but Rahul is a player on whom Indian fans can rely with close eyes. He proved that wall is not cracking it has happened more strong which is difficult to challenge. |
